Satan in Wikipedia

“Satan (The word in Hebrew meaning is “Enemy” or “Adversary”. In Arabic, Shaytan means “Astray”, “Distant”, or sometimes “Devil”) is a figure appearing in texts of the Abrahamic religions, who brings evil and temptation, and is known as the deceiver who leads humans astray. Some religious groups teach that Satan originated as an angel, or something of the like, who used to possess great piety and beauty, but fell because of hubris (pride), seducing humanity into the ways of falsehood and sin, and has power in the fallen world. In the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament, Satan is primarily an accuser and adversary, a decidedly malevolent entity, also called the devil, who possesses demonic qualities.”

Note:  that all 3 Abrahamic religions agree that Satan, in the form of a serpent, deceived Adam and Eve into eating of the Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, promising them that they will be as God in knowledge and power.
